  • SUGGESTED USE:
  • For 2 Hours of Activity: you need at least 200 to 300 calories per hour = 400 cals to 600 cals for 2 hours.
  • 1. BEFORE: MIX at least Two (2) scoops in 10 - 12 oz. of cold water and drink it at least 30 minutes before start
  • 2. DURING: for each hour of activity MIX at least Two (2) scoops in 20 - 26 oz. of cold water and sip throughout activity
  • 3. AFTER: MIX at least Two (2) scoops in 10 - 12 oz. of any fluid and drink within the first hour for optimal muscle-glycogen replenishment and recovery
  • * A 150 lb. (68 kg.) athlete needs at least 300 calories per hour of exercise activity = 3 scoops of CARBO-PRO
  • CARBO-LOADING
  • You may carbo-load with CARBO-PRO for two to three days before a major event. 1 or 2 scoops (100 to 200 calories) in 12 oz. of cold water; Once in the morning and once in the evening should be sufficient.
  • CONDITIONING/TRAINING: 2 or 3 scoops in 10 oz. water. Drink within the first hour AFTER workout.
  • RACE/COMPETITION Carbo-Pro allows endurance athletes to adjust CARBs intake based on training or competition distance. A 150lb. athlete needs at least 300 calories per hour of activity @ 2 calories per hour, per lb. of body weight. One scoop of Carbo-Pro provides 100 calories of energy. The 60 cc scoop (inside container) holds approx. 0.9 ounce (25 g) of the product. One scoop provides approx. 100 Calories. One serving size which is 2 scoops (1.8 oz./ 50 g) provides approx. 200 Calories. One serving (2 scoops/ 1.8 oz./ 50 g) represents theoretically as much carbohydrate content as 200 g (about 1/2 lb.) of cooked pasta; or as much as 430 g (about 1 lb.) of potatoes.

I use bike bottles with two scoops of Carbo Pro and one serving (three tablespoons) of gatorade powder as my race nutrition for Ironman and 70.3 races. It dissolves really easily, doesn't affect the taste of the gatorade very much and seems to work for my nutrition. I haven't tried many other alternatives but since this works I think I'll stick with it.

expensive: you could just buy bulk maltodextrin for much less. But .... well, do a google search for online bulk maltodextrin producer/distributors in Canada, and see how you feel about product sourcing and quality assurance based on those website front ends ... anyway, most any bulk product is probably fine, but I guess I'm swayed a bit by the marketing hype with Carbopro's ambassador athletes and their slick website. And that's not entirely irrational: it's a big well-established brand and I guess I trust their procurement and oversight of suppliers more than ... well, those other websites. If you do go the more expensive route, Triboutique was the cheapest price I found in Canada for Carbo-pro products.
