Safety first achieved September 8, 2015

3 points:
(1) Highly visible - Buoy is highly visible from land - I was advised by people on land that it was highly visible from land on a 1-K loop.
(2) Hydration - a water bottle fits nicely inside the buoy.  I tested it during a swim and I was able to utilize the buoy to stabilize myself and provide buoyancy and easily get a quick drink of water and a little rest.
(3) There is no noticeable drag from pulling this behind.  Some adjustment to the belt is required on your first swim but it's minimal.  I had to check a couple of times to make sure it was still there.

Additionally - there is a certain amount of confidence provided by the buoy knowing that if I have an issue during my swim that I can use the buoy as a safety back-up.

good idea, but ... July 9, 2015

... I found this less efficient than the big dry bag buoy. I liked the idea of a carry pouch for a water bottle, but that's about all that's going in there (if you have a small dry pouch you can tuck your keys, wallet, and phone securely under the main donut section), maybe some gels. Water does get in the well, obviously, and while there is a drainage system of sorts, it isn't terribly efficient, and worse, it's much harder to dry out than the simple buoy once you're done. So, I'll keep it in the kit, but I suspect I may soon buy one of the simpler buoys (http://www.triboutique.ca/ISHOF-SaferSwimmer-Buoy-p/ishof_safeswimmer_tpu.htm) that I had before.
